T−60 seconds01No helmet, no startEvery scooter carries one, NARSA compliant and EN 1078 certified, checked before the ride begins. The scooter will not move until the strap is closed. It is not a reminder you can dismiss.
02Sober ride onlyWe can't enforce this, but: don't ride drunk. The AI flags erratic acceleration; you'll get a polite warning the first time.

While you ride
Handled for you01The map sets the speedNot you. 20 km/h on the main streets, 8 km/h on the lanes between buildings, and nothing at all inside them. The scooter changes as you cross the line, without being asked.
02Where you can rideThe scooter knows whether it is on a street, a pavement or a lane between buildings. Ride up onto a pavement and it warns you, then slows. Head for the edge of campus and the steering goes heavy rather than letting you leave.
03Falls are noticedThe scooter feels sudden braking, hard turns and a fall. If a ride stops looking like a ride, our team is alerted while it is happening - nobody has to remember to report it.
Three speeds, drawn on the map
Not set by the riderA campus is not one place. The street along the faculties and the gap between two buildings are different problems, so they get different rules - and the scooter reads which one it is standing in. UIR is the first campus to run this.

- 8km/hBetween the buildingsWhere students cross without looking, because they have never had to. Walking pace, near enough.
- 0km/hInside, and anywhere closedBuildings are closed by default, and any street the campus wants shut is shut. The scooter will not enter.

After the ride
The last 30 seconds01It ends at a hubEvery hub sits inside the campus boundary, and the ride closes at one of them. You photograph the parked scooter, and GPS confirms it is where the photo says it is. Park it anywhere else and there is a penalty.
02Damage is on record, not on youThe closing photo is compared with the one that opened the ride. Damage that was already there is not your problem, and we keep the record either way. Disputes take one tap.
